There are 10 specific strategies in this book designed to transform the library space and make it more welcoming and innovative. These strategies can be put into practice right away and they have the potential to help the library become an integral part of any K-12 school. Your assignment is to write a 3-4 page paper where you identify at least 3 strategies (hacks) that you will implement into your own library or educational setting. Be sure to communicate your role, why you chose those three particular strategies and how you think they will have a positive impact in your school.
Turn in the 3-4 page paper. It should be 10-12 pt font double-spaced.

Grading Criteria - Hacking School Libraries
1) All three assignments must be completed within one year. Upload your documents to your Teacher Study Dashboard or Email all completed assignments and paperwork to lorie@teacherstudy.org.
2) The rubric for the Book Study Handout is broken down into five goal areas.
The first goal area pertains to questions #1-7 on the handout. You will need to answer these questions and earn a “1”, “2”, “3”, or “4” according to the rubric.
The second goal area pertains to questions #8-22 on the handout. You will need to answer these questions and earn a “1”, “2”, “3”, or “4” according to the rubric.
The third goal area pertains to questions #23-37 on the handout. You will need to answer these questions and earn a “1”, “2”, “3”, or “4” according to the rubric.
The fourth goal area pertains to questions #38-53 on the handout. You will need to answer these questions and earn a “1”, “2”, “3”, or “4” according to the rubric.
The fifth goal area pertains to questions #54-60 on the handout. You will need to answer these questions and earn a “1”, “2”, “3”, or “4” according to the rubric.
The maximum number of combined points that can be earned is 24 (4 points on each of the 5 goal areas for the answers to the questions on the handout and 4 points for the paper).
3) The rubric for the Hacking School Libraries paper explains how to earn a “1”, “2”, “3” or “4”.
“A” grade = 22-24 points
“B” grade = 19-21 points
“C” grade = 17-18 points
“D” grade = 14-16 points
“F” grade = 13 points or less
A “NC” (no credit) grade will be given if all three assignments are not completed within one year.
Pass/NoPass Grading System (for clock hours or continuing education credits)
Pass = 17-24 points
No Pass = Less than 17 points
Graduate Credits:
Earn 3 graduate level quarter credits offered through Seattle Pacific University, an accredited university. Additional $180 fee, payable to SPU. You must register with SPU first to earn graduate credit.
WA State Clock Hours:
WA State Educators have the option of earning 30 Clock Hours offered through OSPI approved ESD 112. Educator is responsible for the $3 per clock hour fee. ESD clock hour claim code will be forwarded to you once the course is completed.
All Other PDUs, CEUs, CPEs and other known terms for Clock Hours:
30 Clock Hours for professional development are available for those outside of WA State. Other known terms include, but are not limited to, Professional Development Hours, Professional Development Points, CEU's, CPE's, PDU's or your school district's equivalent language for clock hours earned. A Certificate of Completion will be provided to all students once coursework is reviewed and graded.

Online book studies that have not been accessed are refundable within 5 days of purchase date. No refund will be issued on any assignment that has been accessed, viewed, or partially completed. Online training courses may not be transferred to another student.
